It is with great pleasure and pride we at TFI bring to your attention the fund-raising quest of our one of our foundation Board Members, Dr Joe Herbertson. Please give consideration to supporting Joe in his efforts to raise funds for indigenous education.
Tim Roberts, Director
I am taking part in the University of Newcastle’s Larapinta Trail Challenge, which aims to raise at least $100,000 to provide disadvantaged Indigenous Australians with university scholarships and to support medical research into Indigenous health problems. I want to raise enough for at least one undergraduate scholarship.
Please DONATE HERE to contribute in a practical and targeted manner to achieving equity for Indigenous Australians.
Inequity is toxic in society, and not just for the people bearing the brunt of it. Improving Education and Health are fundamental ways to address systemic inequity. That’s why I am supporting this UON initiative.
I must say I was amazed and pleased to learn that our local University has graduated a third of the country’s Indigenous doctors and has the highest Indigenous student levels in Australia.
Going on the trail will benefit me physically and we will be spending time in amazing scenery. I have never been to the heart of Australia before, so I am quite excited. But most importantly, I am sure we will meet people and learn things during this experience that are both inspiring and confronting.
Please browse through the website. When you see how the money will be used and who will be participating and why, including my background and motivations (here), I hope you will be moved to make a donation HERE. And please pass this message on to your friends, family and work colleagues to help raise awareness and more funds for a truly worthwhile initiative.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
